ANCIENT ANCESTORS SAFE GUARD & PROTECT US

When the studies of my Hawaiian Culture and Heritage began, one of the first conduits of Spiritual Power (Mana) introduced to me was that of the Ki, Ti, or La'i plant. Ki has a variety of useful purposes in Hawaiian Culture, all of which you can read at length if you search for it in google. In this writing I endeavour to share with you the essence of the Ki. When I  made my way up to the waterfall of Mo'oula in the valley of Halawa, Molokai for the first time, it was very clear that I was entering a space which is sacred. All around the base of this waterfall, on both sides, up the ridge walls and outward exists a forest, a blanketing of Ki.

It is important to note that Ki as a conduit of protection works in ALL directions. For example, when worn as a lei, Ki protects the wearer from harmful forces which exist outside ones physical, mental and spiritual presence, it acts as a barrier that repels outward or away from the wearer. It is also very important to understand, however, that Ki has the ability to hold within, to retain within, to envelope and enclose inward. This is a very import understanding when donning a lei of Ki. The wearer must ensure that their Spirit, Mind, and Body is free and clear so that they do not mistakenly trap harmful forces within. This understanding speaks to the needs of Humankind to be Pono, to be Aloha and to be in complete alignment with the Truth,  Oia'io.

Here is another significant understanding of Ki in Ancient and Modern practice. Although many modern families may not fully understand the significance of the tradition they are practicing.

Envision, the bones of our Ancient Hawaiian Ancestors resting in the flesh of Papa Earth Mother, see their living descendants planting Ki on the Aina the skin of Papa Earth Mother, the land above the resting place of their Ancestors. Now watch as the Ki grows upwards and downwards, can you see the roots of the Ki intertwining with the their Iwi, their bones? Can you taste the nourishment of their Mana which courses upwards instilling their spiritual power in every fibre of the Ki? Now pay close attention! Witness your Ohana your Family grow, and move outward and establish new Ahupua'a land districts to accommodate and care for the next generations of Ohana Family. Do you see your  Kupuna making cuttings of the Ki which have matured. Do you see your Kupuna wrapping the cuttings in the Lau the leaf of the Ki and offering it to you? This is a Ho'okupu an offering which your Kupuna have given to you with careful instructions of how and where to replant these Ki cuttings. You take them with you, you settle onto the Aina of your new home and you follow the instructions, you fulfil the directions given to you by your Kupuna. Then when it comes time and your Ohana grows and expands, you as the living Kupuna offer the Ho'okupu of Ki with the same careful instructions, and the circle the cycle begins again.

Our Ancestors, their Mana through the conduit of Ki, serves to Protect the Ohana Then, Now and Forever! Always have and Always will! This is the Thinking, This is the Way, This is only one layer of the Spirit Power of Your Ancestors....
